We started in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) in the South, visiting Ho Chi Minh Open University, where we trained a classroom of students as well as teachers from the English department. Here’s a pick of some of the students’ responses to the exercises…
Later on we met teachers from the Pedagogic University, who asked us thoughtful questions about digital education.
“Does this draw on Vygotsky’s Social Development Theory that children’s understanding of the social and cultural world must precede their cognitive understanding?”
“Why not make all the learning activities social?”

“Write about an embarrassing or funny moment that happened…”
We learnt that the director had had dinner with the chief of police last night, and that when it came to pay the bill, he had accidently taken his wallet to pay! Sounds embarrassing…
In Hanoi the weather was hotter and even more humid, and there were even more scooters on the streets. Below is Tung who helped us with the training sessions and even took me on a tour of the city on the back of his bike – both terrifying and amazing!

It was great to meet so many teachers and students and get them interested in the social learning platform. I hope they enjoy using it and that we will be able to return to Vietnam in the future.
